I was thinking of getting one of those mowers with a 10 or 12 motor on it. I would pull this behind a garden tractor. Does anybody know which ones are the good brands and how much would one cost? Thanks in advance.

I bought two 44" swisher trail mowers at Tractor Supply. They have the 10 1/2 hp tucumseh engines. I had trouble keeping them running for the first two seasons, always in the shop. The last two years been great but had to keep blade interlock switch disconnected and replace carbs to keep running. I use a 16 hp 42" John Deere hydro lawn tractor to pull. Cuts 10' at a pass. Buy with a Briggs & Stratton!!!! DON"T BUY A TECUMSEH ENGINE

I have a Haban 42" with an 8hp Briggs. Have used the dickens out of it, mowing off about 60 acres of hayland for three seasons, plus general mowing around the farm. I have seen similar units under the Agri-Fab name - Haban is out of business. I'm stuck with an orphan, albeit a good one - do not recommend buying one of my brand!

I built one out of a Bolens mower deck and an 8HP motor. It has worked great for ten years now. I bought a new takeoff deck and a new motor. Have about $500 into it . New one will cost you better than $1000.They work well and are worth having if you have need for your tractor to not have a belly mower under it all the time. I use my tractor extensivly in our garden.

I did the same as Chris only I found a super heavy duty 48" mower deck at the BONEYARD for free...zerk fittings on the spindles and just perfect for a new 8 HP Briggs...adjustable wheels fore and aft (my design)...lever to tighten drive belt. Probably as good as any and just for the price of the Briggs, some steel, wheels and some time. Next is flywheel with starter teeth, alternator and starter and battery and ignition switch. Project (fun) time. Fred OH

I have a swisher too..40" 8 hp brigs. Bought it used along w/ an old cub cadet 128. Cuts about an 80" swath together, plus, you can wing the trailmower around trees and posts like a ZTR mower. Its a good setup if you have alot of grass to cut. Or in my case, a lot of weeds to cut!

So do you pull this offset behind a regular lawn
mower to give you a wide cutting swath ?

Got a picture ?
