I am buying a tractor for a five acre property. I am looking at a 93 Deere 850 with a 8' mower and a 6' snow blower. Any Ideas on what a fair price is.

I agree with twopop. The 850 wasn't made in '93. If it truly is a 850, find the serial number on the rear axle housing and check www.tractortips.com to see what year it was made.
I have a 950, the next size up which has about 5 hp more than the 850. Great tractor. I run a 6' rotary cutter on it and that is about it's limit. I don't think an 850 would run an 8' mower except in very short grass.

I would be leary of that small of a tractor having enough power to run a 6 foot mower and a 4 foot snowblower, let alone the sizes you are talking about.

Head over to TBN and ask the guys over there about it.

I bought my '92 Deere 870 in July 1995. It had 168 hours on it. I got a JD272 6' grooming mower, a 3 point post hole digger with 2 different size augers (it had been used once)and a landscaping or box scraper as some call it. I paid $10,000 for the whole outfit. I would think one factor on the value would be the hours on the 850, if it has been kept inside and what brand the mower is to determine it's worth in the pricing (an 8' mower is BIG for this size tractor) It also seems that these tractors will bring a bit more with front wheel assist. I really would be lost w/o my 870 as i mow about 3.5 acres with it. The only expense it has been to me is annual oil & fuel filter changes & i have replaced the original battery last year.

the 850 was sold from 1978 to 88 so if its a 93 model year it would be a 870 a 93 model would have serial # between 120001 and 130001 an 83 model 850 serial# would be between 14183 and 16oo6

I have a 1980 JD 950 bought in '93 for $7300 with 8' blade, front-end loader (Model 75) and 5' finsh mower. That 3 cyl. Yanmar diesel has been a great engine. Good fuel consumption and lots of low end torque for a small tractor.

One item to consider is if your place is hilly, you may want to consider a 4WD. My 2WD can get stuck, or at least slowed down, pretty easily in certain places. Otherwise, its a great tractor.

My manual covers the 850 as well as the 950, so they are pretty similar.

I did a search through some of my data files, I could not find an exact match for a 93 model, the newest one I could find was an 87 model, which sold for $8,000. I found prices all the way down to $3,500. I would say you should expect to pay at least $8,000, probably more with the attachments.
