Synchro Range tranny, I suppose? You'll need a gauge to set up the clutch fingers. There are 6 of them, if the tractor has a PTO... 3 for the foot clutch and 3 for the PTO clutch. The gauge is a flat metal plate with various ledges on it to match up with the appropriate clutch finger. I believe some of the older I&T manuals had a drawing of the gauge, otherwise, you'll have to borrow one to do an accurate job. You'll need a clutch alignment tool, or old tranny input shaft to align the foot clutch splines. If it is a PTO tractor there are 2 ways to align the PTO plate. 1. Use an alignment tool to align the PTO plate, as you would on a car, then tap wooden wedges under the PTO clutch fingers, in such a way as to hold the PTO fingers depressed, which holds the plate in position as you've aligned it. After the tractor has been CAREFULLY rolled back together, you knock the wooden wedges out, working from the bottom, through the access hole. 2. It also works to just VERY CAREFULLY roll the tractor back together, and have a helper rotate the back PTO shaft until it aligns the plate. (As you may realize, the PTO clutch works opposite of automotive clutches, in that the clutch is ENGAGED by the continuous force of the throwout bearing aginst the clutch fingers.) Just curious... what happened to the old flywheel?
