Just wondering if anybody knows the torque specs for the heads on a 97 Monte Carlo with 3100 engine, or if there is a web site withthat kind of info? Thanks for your help.

Don't forget to replace the headbolts they are throw aways, and cannot be reused.

Jason,

Since that engine is mating aluminum against cast, the torquing procedure requires the use of a torque angle meter and it is quite a process to bring those heads down. In other words, you can’t just “torque ‘em down” and be done with it.

I too, suggest that you get the manual, as the procedure is something of a gauntlet to run.

Nice little engine, tho.

Allan

Jason, Autozone.com has a few manuals online, but they don't have one for your Monte. I did find a 3100 for a '88-96 Beretta/Corsica and the manual outlines how to remove and install the cyl. head with a few pictures. Hope this helps.
