If you need the whole thing, tubes and all you need to research by year the style they used, all where oil bath and a complete assembly shouldn't be hard to find. If you have a cannister and the screen is rusty or degraded from neglect you can install new screen after you pull out the miles of old screen. It can be done, I've been there. Layers of smaller mesh window screen will work. If the bowl is rusted through, clean it up real good and use JB weld to seal it up. Sanded down and painted you can't tell from the outside, but if it holds oil it will work just fine. Good luck, Dan

I have a VAC and it is a oil bath air cleaner. I have been told that you can purchase a filter to put down inside of the canister at the automotive stores, although I never have to verify this info. If you need the entire canister and pipe, they are not to hard to find on E-Bay...

If you have a missing or unusable oil bath type, check Ebay, tractor parts yards, tractor magazine ads, etc. A post awhile back addressed the problem of converting from oil bath to dry filter. One needs a complete unit made for a dry filter, as the oil bath type has a completely different interior which is welded in place. I recently searched thru a pile of 40-50 old air filters, and probably 99% of the dry were way too large to replace the VAC unit. Most were from the '60s & '70s.

The frame that holds the wire mesh in place is soldered in all the ones that I have seen. It is relatively easy to unsolder and remove the mesh for cleaning. Don't know about dry filter elements tho. Joe

I guess then if it's soldered instead of spot welded, one could figure out a way to mount a dry filter after removing the insides.
