I love the discussions where someone asks if they think it's all right to vary from a certain color or maybe paint their nuts. Damn it's your tractor do what you like, just do a good job. This is coming from a guy that owns a pumpkin orange MF65 with dark green rims, engine, trans ect. She's the purtiest tractor in the whole damn valley.
On a more serious note I just got a visit from a couple of homicide detectives. Seems there was a murder just two houses down, theres only four houses on our entire dirt road so it hit kinda close to home, I'm hoping that they find out it was not a random event, we don't lock our doors around here. No matter how far out of the way you live, fate can bring trouble to your door at any time. Be observent and safe no matter where you live.

Working for a Case dealer back in the 70's and we had a customer (he had a farm next to the dealer's farm) that wanted a disk chisel. Case sold one, it was actually made by Landoll and painted Case power orange, about like the Glencoe model. At that time Deere made nothing like this. This guy refused to have anything on his farm except JD green so we stripped it down and painted it to his specs, green and yellow.

We ended up painting some J&M hopper beds for him too (this was before they started painting them green for Deere dealers)

I had an elderly friend that liked to cause a ruckus and he had 10 show tractors Farmalls, Fords, JD, MH, MF, and such. He had just redone his dads old Cub and his Die hard JD neighbor ribbed him about it. THe next show he had a sign up on his JD green Supper C that said JD's dream tractor 19..... There was a big discussion over that but noone ever said anything else to him about his collection.

There's a story from a little town near here where the IH guys sit on one side of the cafe and the JD guys on the other. A certain fellow from the JD side wanted an older tractor to use with a belly mower to mow around his yard. He settled on a Farmall 'C'. His old buddies gave him such a hard time, he painted the 'C' red just to get them to simmer down.

Another solution might have been for him to get green sunglasses for all his buddies. Oh what a happy world it could be.

Grin.

YOu can paint a tractor any color you like as long as it suits you. As to painting nuts, if you insist on doing it, I would suggest you try to make sure you use non-alergenic paint. Also be careful with the masking tape.

That pre-paint sandblasting can be a real bummer too! ;o

I am kind of a purist when it comes to painting my tractors, but to each his own. I know a guy with a lemon yellow Farmall M and he did a great job on it and it looks cool, had special decals made up in black. And you are right about what may come to your door, just be careful and watch out. I have some good old barking dogs, six foot chain link fence around the front and a heater or two, live 10 miles south of nowhere, neighbors are all great but ya never know what may come down the road from somewhere.
