Good evening gentlemen,

I came across an ad in the photo ad section that has got my interest peaked. It's ad number 55687 labelled "John Deere 830 electric start". Now, the seller says it's not an industrial and was simply painted the wrong color. I've seen that done on tractors like the R and the 80 but that was a simple attempt to make them look like the new style paint scheme of the 820. Those you can really easily tell that they aren't the real deal. This one doesn't convince me though. I've never heard of anyone painting a tractor industrial yellow before and not this good either. The paint looks to have the wear and tear it would have if it had come from the factory that color. Also, and this is the kicker, the decals are the commonly used black decals found only on industrial models. I'm no good with other identifiable marks but I know I've seen posts from a fella around here who has an industrial J.D. website (or at least I think I have) so maybe he could help out. Look forward to hearing from you all and hopefully solving this mystery. God bless.

I worked on a jd840. it had a hancock scraper attached to it. it was the same as a 830 with a starting engine. it was yellow.

The 840 seats the operator on the left side over/beside the flywheel. The 5th wheel hitch for the scraper is where an 830's seat is. The industrial 830 and the 840 had different/heavier front & rear axles than agricultural R,80,820 & 830's.
