The tach and hour meter on my 6610 gave up a few days ago. The unit only has 384 hours on it and shouldn't have gone out I wouldn't think. Are these prone to breaking during cold weather running and if so where do they break. Anyone have an idea before I start digging into this thing? Thanks in advance..... ...

I'm not sure about the 6610S, but with the older 10's it was usually either a pinched and broken cable, or the cable in the angle drive. Just pop the cable off the angle drive, start her up, and see if it turns. If not, there's the prob, if it does turn, pull the instrument cluster ahead, and disconnect the cable there, and take an end in each hand and check it. At times, there can also be engagement problems on both ends of the cable. Not likely the cluster, but you never know... Good luck.

First thing I always do is get out the Repair Manual and the Parts Manual. See how it is made and put together. Read the troubleshooting section. You will probably have your answer right away and have the directions to fix it, and the Part Numbers for the broken parts. Get real NH Manuals through the dealer. IT and other off brand manuals are a waste of time.

I have all the manuals and have looked at the way these are assembled. I think it may be the drive at the lower end of the cable. I just didn't want to start digging into it without some idea what I might be looking for if I could get a jump on the problem based on a similar experience someone else may have had. Thanks,

Sorry I should have been more specific. The tach & meter or cable don't seem to have anything wrong with them. There is NO water in the system as its sealed and sheded. Thanks,

You don't say whether you have removed it or not, yet, so assuming you haven't done anything, it's prolly not the unit. Most likely the drive. If its got any damage and letting in water it will most likely break just where it's frozen (but will that matter?!).
