I have posted here about by Wisconsin VF4D engine running hot on one cyl. And about what color a exhaust valve ought to run. I have now determained that I do have the wrong distributor in this engine. For the boards information. The Wisconsin VF4D engine, recognized by it's three part manifold system should have the distibutor with the UNEVEN cam lobes. The VH4D recognized by its one part manifold, should run the distibutor with the evenly spaced cam lobes. Now...that being said, I have not yet changed mine, but upon watching and moving the cyl by hand, and comparing the location of the rotor, it appeared suspect. This morning I called a Wisconsin engine rebuilding company and they confirmed the above information. Thank you for all of your help, and a special thanks to Bob for starting me down the distributor path.

Bruce

Bruce:
I believe that is the engine in a 600 Bobcat that I just purchased a couple months ago.
I intend to rebuild it this winter or later when I finish building my new shop and living quarters.
The engine rebuilder that you got the info from would be a place that I may want to purchase the kit and manual. Would you have his web site or address so that I could contact him when I'am ready to proceed. Or I may just choose to ship out the engine if circumstances require.
Thanks For Your Assistance.
Tom.

LOVE THOSE V-4'S, THE ONE YOU HAVE (VF AND THE VE HAVE THE GREATEST SOUND DUE TO THE TYPE MANIFOLD (SOMETIMES REFERRED TO AS THE "TALL" OR SMALL MANIFOLD. THERE'S NO SOUND LIKE THESE RUNNING AGAINST THE GOVENOR.
