I have a chance to buy a case 1830 skid loader for what I think is a good price (maybe I might ask about that in here a little later) but right now I'm asking about the fact that it runs on propane. I need to use this in the winter time, let say it gets down to 10 above will this thing start and run decent in those cold temps? The guy I'm thinking about buying it from only uses it indoors in a heated wherehouse and "says" he doesn't know how well it will start when it is that cold. I asked him if he would leave it out over night and let me come and start it in the morning. he says he dosn't want to do that, might get stolen.hmm It is in a bad area down in the city though. What do you guys think about propane and cold weather start and running?....thanks

I run a couple of tractors repowered with V8 propane engines. They start good on propane down to 15-20 below. Below that a snif of starting fluid in the air cleaner will get them firing on ether/propane mix. Once the first cylinder lights off it will run on propane.

It should be just fine. We have a '78 Chevy C60 that runs on propane, the only problem we have had is if you don't let it warm up before cruising down the road the unit that helps preheat the liquid to vapor will ice up. If we let it idle and get the engine water warm there are no problems. Of course that skidsteer won't be going down the road at 40+ mph so it should be just fine. Do you have a way of filling the tank or is it a removable one where you can take it in and have it filled?

If everything is as it should be on the carburetion system, it will start and run just like a fuel injected gasoline engine. No coughing, backfiring or missing. What kind of motor? Is it factory LPG? Thanks. Steve in Texarkana.

It will start just as good as it would on regular gasoline, if not a little better. goof
