Anyone ever heard of a ford 2n having a 9 speed? we didnt either, i'm 15 years old and 5 years ago, before we moved in the country my dad bought an old 1947 ford 2n, it has a freeman loader and a ferguson scraper blade that when you pulla lever and back into a fence post etc it angles and locks, anyway, it was sad looking, and an old lady had it because her husband died, and she wanted to get rid of it, so my dad got it running and drove it to his shop (10 miles) and checked it out, we thought it was just A 6 speed and it goes 26 mph, we only paid 1300 for it, (it just still doesnt have brakes) and we recently got another 2n, and the high-low range levers are different so we asked some old man why, and we put the one on the tractor with the loader in neutral and pulled it to the left and found out we have 3 long lost gears A 9 SPEED! it is called a step-up step-down sherman, it has 3 lower gears and 3 higher gears than a normal 9n or 2n, we will never sell it now, we hope to put a new hood and fenders on it and paint it up, it was made to be worked and that's what its gonna continue to do, its job now it hauling round bales around with the loader, we also bought a ford 961 diesel tractor that we have to put rod and main bearings in , i know this story was long but i just want to know how many people know about there being 9 speeds in n series tractors..if you have any questions feel free to e-mail me, thanks
