My dial up is so slow, and I see NetZero advertise their high speed dial up for $14.95, sounds to good to be true. Was wondering if anyone has tried it? Thanks for answering and don't shoot me because it ain't a tractor question.

I took a look at them because my contract with my current provider is due to expire shortly. The claim of “up to 5 times faster” is an attention getter, but as they say, the devil is in the details. If they have the technology to speed things up as they claim, why aren’t all the other dial up providers using it to better compete with the real high speed providers?

The one single thing that totally turned me away is the @#%* they call “customer service”. There, in the fine print, you’ll find it costs $1.95 / minute for tech support. Have you ever owned a system that you NEVER needed any assistance with? 10 minutes a month (and I know most will not need tech support each month) along with the initial monthly cost will get you into the DSL price range. Also from their web site, try to ask some questions and see what you get for a response. You will quickly learn that unless you have a credit card in hand, you will never talk to a person. All I got were automated e mail responses that were pretty well useless. No thanks, they can keep it all.

Hey, I signed up for one month and figured I would only be out fifteen bucks, and it really is faster. It ain't 5 times faster as in there ad, but it is at least twice as fast, depends on what setting you have for the images to come in. You can bring it in really fast but the images won't be the sharpest, but if you have the image needle set it half way, it does work faster, just thought I would let you guys know. I still have my old MSN but might do away with it.

I had it for about two months. Then went with DSL through my phone company. All it does, which I knew before I got it, is lowers the resolution of pictures so they load faster. If you read the small print it doesn't speed up downloads like from an email. I don't think it was worth it.I did like the service with Netzero. I would get disconnted sometimes but nothing like a provider I have at home. I am in college so I got DSL to download power point presentaions for class along with everything else that is on line with school now.

I don't have it, but have checked into it a little bit.

It will speed up the webpages, but it won't speed up any downloads. Files, pictures, etc. Nor will it speed up any uploads, you sending info.

For general surfing, might help a bit.

A lot of the so-called high speed dial-up services are based on a data compression method. Your ISP compresses the data from the internet to your computer and a program on your computer decompresses it. It seems faster because you have an apparent increase in data transfer even though the max dial-up rate remains at 56k. You might want to check that your computer is properly configured for the internet since wrong settings can slow downloading. Adware, spyware and auto updating can also slow downloading webpages. The only way to really tell if this is a good deal for you is to try it for a month and see what happens. And this relates to tractors since you want to get tractor information quicker, a admirable goal.

Havn't tried net zero but did upgrade my local net to localnet express which is equivelent to net zero.supposed to be 5 times faster and fewer popups. however if you check close it says up to 5 times faster !gives them an out for false advertiseing. dial up can only work as fast as traffic and connections allow as you are using common phone lines example talers was real fast yesterday when a lot of talers were at lunch in ohio.gives you an idea who is always on talers (LOL)
