Does anyone know of a good machine shop in SE PA that is familiar with diesel engines, preferably in southern York or Lancaster County. I need to have a crank turned, head work, and new sleeves in the block.

I'm just looking for a machine shop with a good reputation, I hate to go somewhere blind. thanks.

Phil, On which side of the river are you ? I'm on the west side and in md by a whole 1000 feet. I do some work for Deer Creek equip, my step son works there . I do engine machine and rebuild and have for many years. Email me with what you are working on If you are on the east side of the river and
a little north Cam'd is a very good shop ( I know mike ). York has always been a good shop , but there is
something going on up there. I have a Mack block
and parts here because one of my customers is very
unhappy with them . Something recently to do with
either ownership or management .

I took some work to a machine shop right off I83, Glen Rock exit (new #8). Can't for the life of me recall the name right now, sorry.

Off exit, towards Glen Rock, left at camper dealer, all the way back on the left...

I am currently usind CAM'D shop in Landisville. I had my crank turned & it was a grade A job. Am having the cam bearings done, head valve seats, guides, rod bushings & bearing bore resized. He has been in business for years & his father before him. Lots of experience in all types of engines. One thing, he likes you to have all the parts when you bring the work in. I had my crank done, then I went looking for bearings when I knew what I needed. He is not fast but he is good. 717-898-8393.

Reardon's in Lancaster has a good reputation, but I haven't used them myself in many years though.
I have used the machine shop at the NAPA in Columbia for a couple of Kohler 12 horse engines I've rebuilt and have been satisfied. I know they do larger engines too.
You may want to call the service manager at Deer Creek equipment, just over the line in Whiteford MD, they may be able to reccomend a good local one on the York Co side. Leaman's tractor parts near Willow Street may be able to suggest one in Southern Lancaster County too.
Good Luck, and post back with who you use and whether you are happy with them. Always good info to put back for later reference.
