Try to compare the JD powershift, and The New Holland _____ _ Shift. Used to be the NH was a lot smoother shift . Maybe JD caught up by now.

An 05 series tractor in the 50ish JP and a 03 or 15 series when approaching/around the 100HP. In MFWD with radial tires of course.

ALtho I am nominally a Deere fan and always say Deere is the best, New Holland makes a decent tractor so if you have a good NH dealer near you, and you found a blue tractor equipped the way you want it and the price is right, go for the blue one.

I really don't know because there alot alot of nice tractors out there and it would all depend on how much you want to spend and what you want to use it for. Now for big tractors, I got to drive a ford 8730 powershift this last year and I was awful impressed with how nice the joystick powershift was, that tractor had a clutch, but it really wasn't even needed, unless in an emegency where it was nessesary to stop quick, I could choose which gear I wanted to start out in from nuetral and simply push the lever foward and it would go or pull the lever back and it would go into reverse. I could go up or down a gear with a flick of the wrist, nice tractor and I loved the looks of the following Genesis series, but CNH sold off the Genesis series to a Canadian company a year or two ago, and I'm 99.9% sure they are still the exact same tractor as when CNH had it, just painted a different color and sold under a different name, I don't think the new owners have changed a thing.
I love the sound of the engine in a Case IH MX Magnum. I stopped by the local dealer and they had left one running and even at idle they sound nice and I have heard alot of them pull down at the local field days. For some reason I just love the sound of them.

We went with New Holland this last trade. A ts90 FWA with a loader. We had three New Holland, two Massey-Agco, two JD and a McCormick dealers that we shopped. One dealer and the Ts90 stood out when we compared all the features and the services. Our nearest dealer is 35 miles away and the farthest was 63 miles.

I would agree with the others to check different brands ot see who has the machuine with features/capacity to match what youre looking for.I would also take in consideration the dealer of each brand , I tend to try to support a GOOD local dealer whenever possible. Even the best of equipment needs some parts and service support.

Buy close to home if you can. Trucking is not cheap if you can't haul it yourself. It ain't cheap yourself but it helps.

NO brand is best, you have to decide what size tractor you need for the job that needs to be done, and then go check the brands in that hp range to see what will work for you!!

I've got about all the colors on my place, and i use different tractors for different things.

Brian;

Robert is right. We farmed with Fords,Fergusons and Farmalls. Used different tractors for different work altho except for the big tractor one tractor could cover for another.Check out local dealers.
