Hi. I have been asked to list a 540 Cockshutt tractor on ebay. We are vintage car people, and do not know much about tractors (altho my husband would LOVE to own this one!). The tractor is fully restored. I'm trying to figure out a value for this item. The tractor will be listed on ebay later today. If you are "in the know" about Cockshutt tractors I'd appreciate your contacting me. I want to be sure I list this correctly and in a way that true collectors will find it. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

If I might ask, why are you worried about the value of the tractor if you're listing it on eBay for someone else? Surely the seller knows what his minimum bid would be does he not? The rest is up to those that choose to bid on it.

No, the seller does NOT know the value of it on the open market. That is why I am researching it for him. He also does not know much about the tractor. I get the impression he bought it on impulse. Since it is MY reputation on the line on ebay, I try to research items to make sure I am representing it correctly and not putting out wrong information. I'm sorry if my asking this question offends you. I am simply seeking information.

No offence taken, I guess you misunderstood my post. Why not put it on eBay with a reserve on it for say $500 more than he paid (or the same as he paid if he wishes). After that, let the market decide as to it's value. As far as your reputation, you're obviously pretty honest and concerned about your sales so as long as you let the buyer know what it is you are doing and that the tractor is in "as is" condition with no guarantees, etc. then I'm sure it will work out well. Good luck.
