The hitch on our 14 ft JD disc looked good when it was hooked up, but while using it, it broke. The couplings pulled out as advertised. This could have been real messy, and a couple new hoses. Now just a hitch repair, and we are back in business. Any one had this happen lately?

I cleared some land a few years ago, and of course, you don't get all the roots, so it can be a real job to plow for the first time. A wise old guy in the neighborhood advised me to buy every 2 bottom JD tag-along plow I could for $50 each (I ended up with 3), hook it to a break-away hitch, make sure my break-away remotes were working, and have at it. If you break a $50 plow, it won't break your heart as well. It turned out to be excellent advice- several times, without warning, I hooked a root- the hitch coupling snapped like a rifle shot, followed closely by the hydraulic hoses making a sound much like a champagne cork- all before I even knew what was happening. I broke one plow in the process, and parked that one in the woods and hitched up another. Still have the other two. Wound up selling that place, a decision I still regret.
