Isn't the e-mail address @hotmail.com, yahoo.com or any free e-mail provider a red flag to everyone else? Come-on guys, they are ok for chit-chat but not for a legitimate business deal. Or am I overly cautious?

I’m sorry; I considered this chit-chat rather than business. I’m not buying or selling on this particular discussion. I don’t think that an e-mail address is necessary to participate in an open discussion of this nature, is it?

Well you got the first part right. At least you could leave a name so the source could be considered.

After going through the spam hassle with my former address, I changed providers and never post my address on the board anymore. I never have any spams to deal with, either. If I want someone to contact me, I leave a phone number.

I would get a hold of your local sheriffs department and file fraud charges against this person. At least they can do paper work that will do no good, but it might be interesting. In our area, they could be liable for 3 times the amount of the check plus court ocsts and attorneys fees for writing hot checks, especially if you have the addrsss of the person involved and thye are in the USA.

They cannot be caught cause these shamers are in Africa out in the jungle with nothing but a computer and a telephone. Anyway nobody like your local law enforcement, the FBI or the CIA is going to waste their time looking for them.
