I would like to purchase a compact tractor to do odd jobs around the farm. I have other tractors to do the big jobs. One to get in tight places and do special work. I want one with a loader, blade, finish-mowing, and maybe later a backhoe. Some have suggested a Kubota 2910 or maybe a Century 3040. I want one with enough power to get work done. What should an individual expect to pay and would it be better to look for an used one instead of new. I want one that would be reliable and not so cheap as to be problems. Any help on what to look for or to be aware of would be appreciated very much. Thanks!!!!

Check out the Century. It is a very heavy and well made tractor with a very exelent fel. I have a 3045 40pto-hp and it will do anything I have asked it to do. It was several thousand less than the big three Under 17000. It also had better lifting and wt spec.s. I looked at most and was sold on them. The same dist. that distributes zetor handels them and they are solid. They come now with a cummings engine That is made by the same manufactor that makes the tractor. Look at them all and you will see what I mean.

I have been (window) shopping around for a 30hp 4wd tractor and around here they are running about 20-23k with a loader and 6' belly mower. I've heard JD, Kubota, Ford NH, Case are all pretty close in quality. Heard some good things about Mahindra too. I'd just go around to all the dealers and try them out. I think you just have to see which one fits your needs best. I've used a JD 4115 (25hp) and it's not bad but I decided a little more power would be better. Go have some fun and check 'em all out, then see what the best one for your $.

$25,000-30,000 and you'll hard pressed to find used. Very popular.
