(New to hydraulics) I have a princess auto 20' implement cylinder. It has a clevis end on teh ram. With no oil or plugs, just bare full of air, I can spin the clevis a bit by hand at the same time of pulling and pushing it in. 'rotate it'. Will this be possible once its plumbed and pressured? I would like it to be able to rotate a bit because it is going onto a small dozer attachment in the center of the blade to push snow and I want to be able to angle my dozer. Right now, the dozer is straight. If I fab in a angle, it will require teh ram of the cylinder to rotate a bit.

Make sense? Thank you in advance.

If cylinder is not exactly horizontal while turning, it may bind & possibly bend the rod or clevis. It sounds like you might need ball swivels on each end. Similar to the balls on each of 2 lift arms on a 3PH.

I hear you on the ball swivels, I am having a bit of trouble finding them. I am looking for more than the ball swivel though correct? I need a ball inside the swivel and something to weld to the end of the cylinder and the blade. Any photos of what I am trying to find?

For the swivels, try a hydraulic shop, if you have one nearby. We are lucky to have one in our Industrial Park. Otherwise check a McMaster-Carr Catalog.... Regards, Davis

Yes it will rotate just fine. Make certain the valve if you added one, is open or closed center to match the machine's hydraulic system design. Where in Canada are you located?

Ontario. The Princess Auto in Kitchener is my closest place of worship.
