I KNOW I WILL GET ALL KINDS OF "GOOD" REPLIES,DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS OF HOW TO KEEP THE BARN CATS FROM USING MY BARN AS THEIR PERSONAL POTTY? I HAVE TRIED MOTH BALLS, CAT REPELLENT THAT YOU BUY AT LOWES.NOTHING SEEMS TO WORK, ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS THEY HAVE ACCESS TO THE OUTSIDE BUT IT SEEMS THEY PERFER TO GO INSIDE, DONT WANT TO GET RID OF THEM BECAUSE THEY KEEP THE MICE AND OTHER CRITTERS AWAY

My son has an adult ball python. In temperate months we leave him in the shop a night or two and the rat/mouse/rodent problem is solved, and the building doesn't stink of cats pee.

My wife uses cayanne pepper in the flower beds to keep them out, it seems to work, FYI

In my honest opinion, a rat or chicken snake will eat more mice in a month than a worthless cat will in its life. Shoot them and let the buzzards eat them.

While this is very true. What do you do if snakes give you the willies? I mean any snake even a king snake.

John, I guess you live with smelling cat sh**. I used to keep a few around but it seemed that whenever I needed to get on the ground, in the barn, driveway, in front of the shed, wherever, I would soon realize that cat feces was somewhere near. I grew tired of this quickly and became more observant of their behavior. They never miced, they always screamed for food anytime I was near. This became more and more annoying to the point I couldn't bear it any longer (like my EX-wife). So....there aint no more cats here and anytime I see them, they seem to cease to exist. They are only interested in killing the harmless little cotton tails, for sport only, not food, and that bothers me too. There is a wild one around here now that is elusive but he will eventually slip up and I will usher him to the other side. He has decided that my cattle back rubber is a nice place to sharpen his claws and in effect tore it to h3ll. Anyway, not worrying about him, learn to live with the snakes if at all possible. They hate you as much as you hate them and they TRY avoiding you too. I PROMISE, they are more effective at reducing numbers of rodents than cats.

We have a crushed rock floor in one building and I don't find many messes in there. The sheds with the soft dirt floors are another matter.

Other thing you could do is put a litter box in the barn (keep it fresh) and the cats might start using it (easier to dig in). Friend has a small sand box for his kids to play in, seemed like every cat for blocks came by to take a dump in it - finally had to put a lid on it to keep them out. Only reason he could think of iis that it was so much easier for them to dig and bury in it.

You just told him the only way I know to cure his problem and probaly did not even relize it.

Get a dump truck load of concrete sand dumped in the side yard of your barn.

There is another way. Take one cat, feed it a bottle of cod liver oil, and just stand back. You'll see about six or seven cats going over the hill. A couple digging, a couple covering, and a couple more looking for fresh ground. Harley
