Several of you mentioned in an earlier thread that YT sometimes hangs (does not respond) after clicking on the final "Post Message" button (after the preview).

I've made some changes that *may* help with this... could you post a reply here if you still are having this problem? Maybe over the next 24 to 48 hours you could make a note of it and respond here if it still hangs after posting.

Thanks! I'll cross my fingers...

Kim

Kim,

I'm not seeing the problem anymore. I just posted a message and several on Friday and they went right through.

Looks like you may have this fixed.

Thanks!

I used to have the problem all the time. Changed from Windows 98 to XP and from 28K to cable modem and it has never hung up at home (if I'm using Explorer), since (occassionally does with Netscape). At work with Windows 2000 Pro hangs up some times. Not sure what my connection is there, it is going through a router and server there. Worst at peak times. Figured it was just the web traffic.

Had a glitch for a couple days, but last post I entered was quick and didn't double post. Gold star for Kim.

The website in general sometimes seems slow. I always figured it is because of peak traffic. 5:00am, super fast, 5:00pm to around 8:00pm is slower. Sometimes takes several tries to get on the site. Generally always do get on. It is still a lot better than what it used to be.

Hi Kim,

I noticed a problem with win95, sometimes with Win98 better with Win98SE and zipo problem with XP-home so far (9mths).

My ISP was a huge problem. Switched ISP"s on Win98SE and immeadatly noticed a big difference.

XP-home has cleared up several major problems I had with several websites, increased my page load speed as well as download time.

I can only get 28.6K out of a 54k V.92 ISP, so I really notice problems fast.

This has been a problem for some, for a long time now, maybe two years ?
Most of us know how to work around the hang so you don't make double posts.

Kim, I guess I'm just lucky, as I have never had the problem. Of course, I don't make a lot of posts. Usually just read and absorb the knowledge that is passed on.HTH.

Some nincompoop below advertising in reply to Kim, 08-14-2004 06:49:36
Kim, Sorry, this is off topic for this thread but, I tried the report to moderator button only to have it bounce back to my e-mail. There is a guy "Adam" trying to use the site as free advertising. See adam's welding below. Thanks.

See it on several of the forums, not just this one.....

You would think if you go to the effort, you would at least make sense with your ad????? :)

My son-in-law read in a computer magazine that the guys that post those ads (or respond to your ads) do the "bad spelling/grammar thing" on purpose, sort of to make you think that you're dealing with a dummy at the other end. Obviously they catch some of us or they wouldn't bother. They are definitely annoying that's for sure.

Hello Kim;
Yes I am still having problems posting. I always just thought it was my ISP but if others are having problems I am not sure.

My problem does not always happen at the final Post message. In fact in several post that has not happened once this morning.

My problem this morning happened when I hit the first "Submit Follow Up" button after typing my message. It is like I have been timed out for being on one page for to long a time. When I hit the first button it goes to a blank screen then to a “page cannot be displayed” page. The way I have been working around it is to copy my post before trying to submit. Then if it does not post I close the browser and reopen it; then return to where I was and paste the post and it works. That’s what makes it seem like a timed out situation which could be on your end or my ISP.
I did also notice I have to enter my password every time this morning such as txblu was talking about.

Very very fast this morning. But did notice that even though I checked the "remember password" box, having to re-enter password for every post. Didn"t have to do that a couple of days ago on this computer. Didn"t change any of my cookie settings.

Thanks,

Mark
