When the line that the duck bill is fresh it stretches enough to let the valve be installed and holds it it place. As the line ages it hardens in the stretched size and won't hold a new valve. Sometimes you can get by by shortening the line by about 1/2" or you have to replace the line.
I don't know where you can get the valves.
I hope this helps you.

thanks RWK I was wondering if there was some kind of glue or some thing like permatex # one that might work-- also if they had put some ridges on the copper part like nylon pipe fittings it would not fall out- leave it to homelite-- they were the best saw on the market for a long time-- My uncle had a dealership for 50 yrs. "past on" I still have 5 of these saws and this is the only prob. what a pain. for your info Home Depot is handling them now- but no help there.
