I read recently in the Bobistheoilguy forum about putting acetone in your gas for lower emissions, higher octane, engine cleaning, and a bit more power. Has anyone tried it, or got opinions? Would like to learn from others experiences. Thanks!

I have run a fuels testing lab for 20 years now and I have seen people experiment with everything under the sun in gasoline. Both acetone and mek are really good internal engine cleaners. Anything that is non hydrocarbon is going to reduce emissions. IPA, Methanol, Ethanol
MTBE, ETBE,MIK,etc. are all good additions. The emmissions reduction will be proportional to the amount added. 10 % should result in a 10% emmissions reduction. Seal and gasket problems can occur with excess additions, but this usually doesn't occur until you get in the 50% range. Good luck.

It will clean the fuel system and combustion chambers. Better yet, buy some B12 Chemtool. Has acetone and MEK in it and does a much better job. Also gets rid of moisture in the gas.

As an added note. Don't spill acetone or MEK on your skin or breath the fumes.

I would have thought the "Bobistheoilguy forum" would be a better place to get some feedback.
