I for one am also sick and tired of this. It is starting to become less enjoyable going to shows now with so many butt buggys, golf carts, and especially lawn tractors at the shows. Please people, keep the lawn mowers and lawn tractors at home. I guess I am getting old because I dont think a 70's or 80's lawn tractor is "old iron". As far as I am concerned there are only three types of people that should be on a cart or other such ride on device.

1. show workers
2. handicapped
3. elderly

I believe if you don't fall into one of these catagories, than you need a serious lesson on being considerate to other show spectators.

If you are truely handicapped then you should be allowed one. However if you are not then they should not be allowed. My daughter was run over by one twice. That"s right twice. The f***ing non-handicapped healthy woman driving a cart with healthy teenagers hanging all off of it had to back over her after she hit her the first time. I guess she had to make sure she finished my daughter off.

True story and I"m not laughing.

I can appreciate what you mean, but what about those of us who are working on the show?
After a week of set-up, then 4 days of the show, then clean-up and put away, all in the August heat, my feet and legs are worn out.
If all I was going to do was amble through the show looking at exhibits, I'd walk too, but back and forth across the grounds 10 or 15 times a day is more than I can do anymore.
I used to do it, but a couple years ago I bought an old Cub Cadet and fixed it up to give me a little break. Best investment I made in a looong time.
I think the garden tractors are somewhat safer in crowds because they tend to be noisy and slow whereas golf carts are relatively quiet and fast.

If they tell me I can't ride, I'll tell them I can't help out. It's that simple.

I do agree though that it is out of control at some shows and that some rules concerning speed & pedestrians right of way need to be established and enforced.

I as well am tired of them. I have two children that love going to shows. It seems that when we take them we can not enjoy the show for having to protect our kids from garden tractors and golf cars. Our organization banned four wheelers several years which was great but then they brought in this golf car rental company that rents out several hundred golf cars.
I acknowledge that some people, handicapped and exhibitors, need something to get around in but not everybody. It is just miserable trying to WALK around and enjoy the show and have to spend most of your time dodging vehicles.

I agree the traffic from golf carts at the bigger shows is getting excessive, but for the most parts the drivers are extrememly courteous. I do agree however, that there are some that shouldn't be allowed. I am one of the people that uses a golf cart or electric scooter at shows because I can only walk or stand for limited times. I drive to an area and get out and look around and take pictures, then rest awhile and drive to another area and repeat it. Most of the golf carts and garden tractors I see however, are people that have no need for them, they just don't want to walk. Don't forget that a lot of those carts belong to the vendors and they are using them for transportation not for seeing the show.
