John Deere LX176 question

Hi, I apologize for the oddness of this question, but our LX176 isn't starting up. The battery seems OK, but the engine never turns over.

In opening up the hood, there are 2 yellow wires running along the left-side of the engine. The yellow wire with a black stripe is hooked up, the plain yellow wire is unhooked. I'm guessing that this is the problem. I'm just wondering what it's supposed to be hooked to, and if this sounded like a reasonable cause of the problem The B&W picture in the manual is not very clear.

Thanks,
Elsa

be sure the mower deck switch is off...will not start with it on....you could get test light and hook up to wire and see if it lights up when you turn switch if not try it where you think it plugs in and try switch..if light comes on plug in and try..have nice day may god bless

There is a garden tractor discussion group here and if you post there no doubt someone will have that lawn tractor and be able to answer your question.

You need to check the seat saftey switch and the brake pedal switch before you go too far. Both of these will kill the ability to start the motor. Seat switch will also kill motor when you get off. Good luck, If you give up I need the carburator
