My pontiac needed a light switch, (tail lights wouldnt work)....called the closest Pontiac dealer and asked if they had the switch...nope, asked them if they could search the area....sure...didnt find any...would have to be ordered - would come in 3 days later....would mean no lights for 3 days on my car - not good!Got the idea to call another dealer...12 miles away and asked them the same..."It"s in stock".... Called the first dealer back...asked again if it was around the area....nope, special order....After buying the part...asked the selling dealer why wouldnt this part show up in the other dealers locator system....he said there was strong competition between the 2 dealers...and he had heard of this from other people as well.... Called the first dealer back, asked the Gen Mgr, what was up....he told me that it wasnt showing...made up some excuse that it was a part that must have "just arrived" at the stocking dealer....I told him that I have the printout from the second dealer 12 miles away that shows that this part shows up in dealer locator system and that it was in stock since 2001....he stuttered for words....
I asked him if I could come down and see his monitor so he could show me that it wasnt coming up....he said "Sure"....10 minutes later I get to the dealer and his system is "DOWN" and they cant look up any parts....it was just working 10 minutes before..... Is this bullcrap or what? The thing that sets me off: THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS SAME THING HAS HAPPENED TO ME WITH THE SAME DEALER..called another dealer and the parts were IN STOCK! THis is 2 pontiac car dealers in Columbus Ohio... As a farmer....If John Deere dealers pulled this crap we"d all be in trouble... What do you think?
