Ive heard people ask about different 3pt. hitch catagories,what exactly does that mean,and what catagorie would the Oliver 1550,I just purchased have on it.

For specs on all three point categories go to www.asae.org. American Society of Agricultural Engineers. Shows all dimensions, pin sizes, arm widths, etc.

It's a Cat 2.
If it doesn't have the balls--which it probably doesn't--you can get them from AGCO.
The Oliver 3 pt is set up different then John Deere. The top of the arm link opens up and you position the arm under the pins on the impliment. Have the balls on the impliment. Then just raise the arms, keeping everything lined up, and the balls will set into the sockets.
I like it as it makes hooking up easier.

To the left, under "research & Info" you will find a subject "3-point specs" That says it all. I'm not all that "up" on Oliver tractors, but I'm sure someone will tell you what catagory it is. (I'm guessing 1, but could be 2) The diameter of the lower link pins should tip you off.....John

The various categories relate to tractor HP and therefore the physical dimensions of the hitch components and the diameter of the pins and sockets.
