Mornin' All,

Last night I bought a 15" PTO extension on ebay and paid for it with PayPal.

This morning, I have 2 emails caught in my spam filter telling me that it would really be in my best interest if I were to "follow the link" and update my credit card info. Yeah, right.

How in the heck do these shifty guys track this stuff anyway?

Allan

You wouldn't a got it if I wouldn't have read the date on it wrong..... Duh. I woulda saved postage - seller had the same local phone co IP.

I've gotten those emails at my hotmail accout, where I do not have ebay - and my wife has gotten them, she's not set up on ebay, paypal, or anything....

Kinda make one wonder about security within the Ebay/PayPal system. Seem that frequently get these bogus emails right after a transaction. I would never give my bank info to such an inaccessible outfit as Ebay/PayPal. My 2 cents.

Those people know eBay from the inside out. The winner's eBay ID is right on the closed item page. From there it would likely be a cinch to get to the winner's email address. They probably hit the seller too.

Realy stinks don't it. Whenever something gets good, somebody has to screw it up. Most buyers and sellers on E-bay bend over backward to be honest and then thse low-lifes come along and make problems.

Happens to me every once in a while. Forward the msg to spoof@paypal.com. Same for ebay. If an email shows up asking to update ebay records, forward it to spoof@ebay.com. I hope they catch the &astards.

Mornin' Allan, I bought several things on eBay this past week. In all but one case, I got an e-mail from someone posing as the seller, requesting bank info from me. I wonder just how many people respond to these guys? John

Rusty,

No, I'm sure it has something to do with the "ampacity" of the darned things. :>)

Allan

You had better put some Neosporin Plus and a Band Aid on that sore spot before it becomes infected.

You guys are hitting below the belt. We've proven that he was correct in using ampacity. Can't help if my '57 EE handbook didn't have it in it and the '69 did.

It's OK, as long as he uses that neosporin he won't have to worry about the ampacity leaking out through the fray in the fracken, where it is then intercepted by marvin the martian. Using the ETD emulator, it is then relayed to the private, underworld of the pay pal spammers. I think I have it all figured out, if we could just locate and destroy that one remaining ETD, we would be rid of all the spammers.

Yeah. That's what tractors are for....when you aren't working them. I'm serious. If I haven't been on one for a few days, I get one out and just drive it down the road and back.
