Can any one tell me what this engine is used in? I only have these numbers- MDL LDT-465-1D Curious as to what I might be able to use it for? I have only seen a picture of it, it looks to be quite large.

It's a multifuel motor that was used in the M35 series 2 1/2 ton trucks, and the M52 or M54 (Don't remember now) series 5 ton trucks. The 5 tons have been retired and the duece's are almost all gone now. Haven't seen a 500 series 5 ton since the late 80's. I suppose they might have them in the gaurd units but not on active duty anymore. Most were continentals or whites. They would burn diesel,JP4,or mogas. Gutless with anything but diesel though and they ran hot with anything but diesel. This is from memory. so it's not gospel.

These engines ran REAL GOOD on JP4 & JP5. Our Mohawk unit used this fuel in the 2 1/2 ton & 5 ton multifuel trucks when they transitioned to Jet A for the aircraft.

A bit long heavy and under powered. Someone may mistake it for a Ford after bolting that engine in. What was it about the military that made them like Continental, Hercules and Fairbanks Morse engines so much?

I love Google. Check the item manifest box. Looks like it was used in a 2 1/2 ton vehicle.

That's what the government calls positive crankcase ventilation.
