Okay,

Two full sets of weights, tires filled to the brim with fluid and 80lbs of cross laced chains in place.

If this little darlin' gets stuck in the snow bank again this year, she has earned an all expenses paid trip down to the farm where she will spend her remaining days loafin’ idly beside the grain bin, which by the way, I haven't looked at in the past 21 years either.

Yep, dat's what I'm a thinkin' :>)

Allan----- --That is a nice looking rig. With all the hydraulics running though doesn't that really knock down the HP on the rig?

Hi Jed,

LOL! You've been over on the IH board, haven't you? :>)

Naw, she runs just like any other old H; but the first of next week, that PTO pump and the belly pump are both coming off and a live hydraulic pump is going to take their place.

A "live" H with power steering sould be fun!

Later Dude,

Allan

Allan, This is up for suggest!....Pull that outside cap wt. Add 2 more regular IH wts, then replace the cap. Now, your ol H has a fighting chance to tackle that dreaded snow.
IMHO...I think you are short on wt., to keep her ballanced in a full bucket of snow application. hence now getting enough traction.

John A.

Allen looks like you could use another 500lbs on drawbar then you could push a mountion of snow. and besides it would rear down if you get a wet heavy snow. But you don't have to stock pile it like we do, looks like you have lots of storage.

I run the same type but much wider tires so my pair of chains weight 195+ lbs and with my 800 lbs each rear 18.5 X 16 tire I have plenty of weight in the rear for traction. I bought the spring holders for the chains to keep them tight. They work great and never had a problem losing them yet. Those tires are now on my Massey 135 along with the Fork Lift I built. Mark h.

It's that cold white stuff that falls from the sky on that one day a year that makes them northeners go crazy on their streets. Kinda looks like the frost in a really cold icebox.

Hey there Allan,
That's one nice lookin tractor. You should be safe from the snow this winter. All set up and ready to go now.... probably won't get a flake. Those look like a nice shiny set of chains too. I have a set just like them, and they work well, but with one advisory. You may want to take a hammer and bend the clasps over tight on the hooks that attach the last free cross chain. If you don't, they have a nasty habit of coming undone, and heading for the fender, and taking the whole set with them, down to the axle in the most enjoyable of environments. The manure pile comes to mind.....I wasn't grinning that day.

Hi ya Rod,

I hear ya. I wire the things together; learned that from the old days with the farm trucks. They had the same kind of a clasp, just a bit smaller.

Thanks for the hollar,

Allan

Now then Allan,
Have we ever thought it might not be the machine at fault, but the "aimer and steerer" sittin" in the driving seat?
Bet you wouldn"t want to spend the rest of your days, consigned to the old grain bin!

Looks good Allen,

When I get my snow removal machine I'll post pics so that all you fellas can have a little chuckle.

My FIL is lending me his Oliver 60 STD with home made plow and chains to plow snow at my new house. She's quite a machine.

If I get stuck with my 60 will you come pull me out with the H?

Allan, with the old gal set up the you have it now, I will just about guarantee it will dig its way through anything that comes your way. I've got my H set up about the same, minus the fluid. I've not always been able to push what I wanted, but I have always been able to back away from it. Even when I go too far and drop the narrow front over the edge of the road ditch. Just let 'er have 'er head, she'll come out.

You might wanna dance around it with a dead chicken too. No better tractor ever built than an H in my book. Looks good Allan. I did see a fellow that put a 4 wheel assist on one once.....

Get this:

Last year when I got the H stuck, I swore I needed a different tractor. So, I goes and buy this thing to put the loader on. Sure, that'll work..... .....

Now I don't wanna scratch the paint....I tell ya, I'm the "retarded tractor" around here. :>)

Oh No !!! I could never do real work with a tractor that looked like that !! Why, what if it got dusty, muddy or maybe even scratched(Gasp, gasp)!! Maybe if you found a nasty looking old set of fenders and hood to hang on it for work days it'd actually be useable. Darn, that's purty !!
Later, Lee

Thats a beauty! Drool Drool.... Dr.s diagnosed me with an iron deficiency a long time ago. I have a really ugly 504 I wish looked like that. My god, ugly car, ugly tractor and I'm a really good looking guy. Guess I can't have it all. So where do you park that 656? Just wondering... and you are out of town when?

"Gotta go lay down. Havin' dizzy spells, blury vision and I feel a headache comin' on..... " Reminds me, it is the wifes birthday this week end.

We had a problem with gas dissapearing too. One day we decided to swap the gas and diesel barrel... The neighbor broke down 1/2 mile away with a tank full of diesel in his new Caddi. Honest, true story. Never said anything to him and he thanked dad and I for pulling his car home. Those gals will make some man very happy some day. I wish my wife would have learned how to siphon.
