Anybody have any experience with the Nortrac tractors? Northern Tool Catalog has one listed, 40hp 4 WD with a canopy and a 60" front loader for $15,000.

i bought a kubota L 3400 (35 hp. diesel) with front loader, 6' shredder, 6' box blade for $15,800 a couple of months back. think they still got that special going. east texas. email me if you want more info.

Garbage made in China, bad castings, poor fit-finish, leaks, hard to get parts. I would suggest getting a Kubota. A guy I work with bought new, a 34hp Kubota with front end loader loaded tires for $15K. Well worth the money vs. the Nortrac junk. For the little extra money the Kubota or anything US made is far better than the stuff from China.

I should have been more specific, at least the utility tractors of case IH/NH and JD are assembled in Georgia, with Japanese diesel engines.

I assume this is basicly the same tractor that some of the traveling tool sales sell. Last year, a guy was getting ready to buy one, he struck up a conversation with me, & I convinced him not to buy it. I would hate to try to get parts for it, looking at it, the quality of castings & machining is terrible. My bet is that most wind up being expensive lawn ornaments....

I've been hanging around the local Kubota dealers place, even doing some work when he gets behind a bit. The more I am exposed to the Kubota tractors, the more favorably impressed I am. The loaders, blades and various other attachments have some serious iron in them. Look to be built for the long haul.

Looked at a new Kubota the other day and the bucket had a sticker on it that was interesting. It said Made in USA! That leads me to believe Kubota may have more US parts than some of the US name tractors.

I think you will find that the loader was made in the U.S.A., but the tractor is made in Japan.

I've owned several Kubota's, i have one now, plus several other Kubota products. I haven't found them all that "bullet proof", i've just found them "one of" the best compacts!!

If you have a need for a compact, as i occasionally do, then they are a pretty good option.

You are correct! That is what I meant, that just the loader was made in the US. I wonder if Kubota has a plant that makes them or if they are made for Kubota by someone.

There is kubotas that are over 25 years old and never had a wrench in motor and you can still get parts.

An friend of mine bought one the 4WD Farmpro tractors (small loader, brush hog, etc). Had all sorts of problems with it after about 30 hrs of use. He had even more problems buying parts. He actually had to order them from China ... over the phone in the middle of the night. Horrible delivery process too. He was without a tractor often. He ended up fixing it to the point of it running and selling it "as is". Didn't get much for but he didn't pay much either.

My $.02 - spend that $15k on a good used tractor you can trust.

Bob: These are the same China-made tractors that are sold under many brand names. I have only seen one of these in operation, and was not impressed--terrible ergonomics, leaky hydraulics, very poor fit/finish, and porous, thin castings. I have also heard that parts are difficult and expensive to get, though I have no first-hand knowledge of this. Overall, I'd suggest spending your money on a main-stream tractor rather than any of the China imports.

Spend a little bit more at your New Holland dealer and get a TC40. Just bought one myself for about $4,000.00 more. With 0% financing it is a good investment.JohnG

Bought a Jinma a year ago. Jinma makes tractors for the Nortrac Label. Just ordered my second one. Yup I am VERY happy with the machine. Overall I"d say most Jinma/Chinese owners are... I hesitantly say that here in this forum... Yesterdays Tractor.. Most readers here were born & raised on American Iron... I"m sure there will be many quick to rise to the occassion to naysay. When Kubota first landed here they were looked down at also. If the Chinese tractors weren"t comming up to speed so fast the big 3 would not have so many "Trade Dress" lawsuits to stop"em or at least slowem down. I hear tell the American Yardstick, Cat, their D3 is made by Mitsubishi????? ?

If you think that just because some American companys are haveing some of there line made in Japan, that it "some how" makes the made in china tractors better i just don't follow you!

I've used a few made in china tractors, also have a friend with one. He'd NEVER buy another, and i'm not buying my first one!!

Best lower cost tractor, is a Mihindra. They are a pretty good tractor.

My neighbor bought a 25 or 30 horse JD and, if I remember right, he told me that all JDs up to 100 hp are made overseas. I guess John Deere gets some from Europe as well as the orient. "The times they are a'changin'!"

It's the ones over 100 HP or so are made overseas. Talking to Bubba down at the dinner is a pretty unreliable source for info. The 2000,4000,5000 series JD are assembled in Agusta. Parts from all over the world and remember JD owns most of Yanmar. The larger 4000 twenty series of compacts have went to a JD built four cylinder. 6000 series isn't American. It's built in Mannheim Germany at the old Lance plant. Engines from Saran France. The 7000,8000 & 9000 are US built. Some parts from Mexico in just about every JD tractor, grader, loader etc.

But something else deere does buys motors for 4wds from tenaco aka Case-IH . Deere must not be able to build a motor as good as cummins.
