Are there some 8n"s with the hydrolic pump powered by the flywheel instead of the power takeoff? What years would be set up like that?
Thanks for the help. DOUG

Doug - you might also want to post this on the "N" board on this site. It's a very good board for answering questions specifically about the N series.

There were a limited number of N series tractors (9n, 2n, 8n) that had an auxilliary hydraulic pack installed by a dealer/
farmer. Its works off the flywheel/pto and gives you live hydraulics. It is a pretty rare option and highly desirable if you find one.

Regards, Tip

The Jubilee/NAA that followed the 8N had a hydraulic pump at the right rear of the engine, driven off of the back of the camshaft.

Not that I recall. All used the PTO shaft pump, it was fundamental to the PTO and the hydraulics with much plumbing inside the castings.

Not to say that some after market auxiliary hydraulic pump might not have been run off the flywheel.

not possiple to run off flywheel, all live systems from ford ran off camshaft, if you put a live system on a N series it run off the front end of crankshaft unless a Zane Live Thang that ran off fan belt
