Just wondering if anyone knew if live power was standard or optional on the 1965 and up tractors. Is there anyway to tell on a non-running tractor?

Per the info available at the Oaktree Ford tractor site.

The 4 speed is trans PTO
The 8 speed is either trans PTO or live PTO
The 10 speed is Independent or ground drive PTO

You can tell which one by the model #
It should be a letter; 4 #'s and another letter
The 4th # tells what kind of PTO it has

There was also a 6-speed produced after 1971 which was trans PTO.

I'm going to go out and say that with the 4x2 tranny yes. Have/had 3 with that tranny and all were Live.

Might be able to tell by pressing on the clutch. Put her in gear (engine off), clutch out and engage the pto lever. Grab the pto shaft and see if you can spin the shaft.....shouldn't.

Push the clutch down about half way and see if tractor will roll....should. Insure that pto still doesn't.

Push clutch all the way down and pto should turn freely
