When I brush hog with my 3000 I have very good positon control of the cutter but when I use my post hole digger the position control is erratic and I cant really control it. It seems as though it wants to be all the way up or all the way down, with no in between. Any ideas? Thanks

Not blowing you off, but there are lots of answers to your questions in the Ford archives. Some have real neat pictures of the system at work so that you can understand it.

You're saying something in that it takes a heavy load (hog is about 800#) as compared to a light load (hole digger is <200) to make it work correctly. Seems that one of your valves (unloading maybe) is sticking. They run on real tight tolerances and in time get gungied up. Need to pull the spools and shine em up. Hit the archives.
