Was waiting for Martha Stewart to chime in, but I guess her internet access is a lil curtailed for now.

Rub Lestoil into each stain and toss in the washer, should do the trick. also works well on cleaning the hands.

I also agree with Keith; I do it all the time. I once got some #6 Fuel oil on a a brand new pair of dress pants. Figured they were "goners" anyway so I soaked the area with "gunk" brushed it a little and put right in the washer. Couldn"t even see where the stain was. Surprised the $h!t out of my wife and me both!!

If I get oil or greese on my good cloths, first I remove any that has not been absorbed into the faberic by use of a scraper (cardboard, piece if tin or plasic). Then I spray brake clean from the inside out. This works well on fresh oil and greese. Don't use this stuff on most sinthetic fabrics as you will find a hole where you sprayed. Some sinthetic fabrics are not bothered by brake clean. Trial test in an inconspicuos place if in dought. Got some grease on one of the wifes drop rugs when I walked into the house, cleaned the sinthetic fibers with no problem, but the backing under it disapeared. Try explaining that to her.

Put a can of coke in washing machine with the clothes. I don't do it because like above post, I don't care but my dad tried it and said it worked great.

Open the can. You can still drink it, but it will be diluted with soap and water. Yum, yum.

I gave up on keeping my clothes grease free when I left the Navy as a aircraft mechanic. Now I have my clean clothes, and my grease covered clothes I work in. If I need a part in town I go grease and all. I haven't been asked to leave yet, but sure get some disgusting looks from the city slickers.(this is what my dad called city people) Have a safe New Years Eve. Stan

Hey Billy, had to tell you I just tried the ammonia thing on pair of Wranglers that was stained with oil and grease, didn't work on my pants. I am always game to try anything that might work. I returned to my old standby, I spray the stained area with either Spray and Wash or Shout, doesn't seem to matter which one I use, then use a medium scrub brush, work in the Spray and Wash into the stain. Wash in warm or hot water. Only had a few times this method did not work. HTH
Keith in Gods country...
P.S. It is a little more work, BUT will save a good pair of Wranglers (jeans)

Like Bigdog says, rub waterless hand cleaner on the stain. Can also add a small amount in washer when washing.

Be Greasy, Like I am..... If a few grease stains offend someone, so be it... Customers come to our shop, act like I am "contagious" or something... But they sure kiss my %&% when they need a job done in a hurry to keep the plant running... Sorry if I offend them, but I work on their stuff for a living.....

Never really had much success with oil and grease, but found something for ink. Being a bachellor, and having put a leaky ink pen in the pocket an expensive white business shirt once, I tried everything, and nothing worked. As a last ditch effort, saw a gallon on windshield washer solvent in the garage and figured what the heck, so poured some on the pocket and the ink started to breakup and run, so tossed the shirt and the rest of the gallon (only a buck or so) into the washer, and when came out, ink was gone. Of course, shirt fell apart in the middle of an important business meeting and I looked even stupider than I already do, but it was clean and bright white. Who knows, maybe will work on grease, but never tried it. For a buck? Might be worth a shot.

Oh yeah, shirt didn't really fall apart, and really worked. I used the blue stuff. Wonder what the pink antifreeze washer solvent would've done? maybe the pink stuff's for grease and oil? Hmm???

Mark.

Put about a pint of ammonia in the hot wash water. Will take the stains out, but stay out of the area until they get through the rinse cycle.

Just smear some more grease and oil on them and make the other ones go away, might not even notice the old stains, knew a nut years ago that had coffee stains on a carpet and made a couple pots of coffee and sprayed it down with a Hudson sprayer on the carpet. I never had jeans last enough to try to get stains out, have tools in the pockets all the time and they tear out at the rear pockets, and the shirts have the collars go and the cuffs, so I never worry about the stains, Dad was wondering if I wanted an old shirt last weekend when I climbed under my little truck to change the timing belt, didn"t believe me when I said the shirt was a rag till I showed him the collar it"s a shame that they seem to be made so bad, wonder how the clothes I wore as a kid lasted as long as they did, I was even more nuts then ..

I have been an diesel mechanic for years and a trick that we use when we grease or oilstains on a seat or close is ether or staring fluid. You spray it right on the stain and rub it in. It will remove the stain and not leave any residue. You must do this before you wash the garment otherwise the stain takes a set. Guaranteed to work.
