Republic, Missouri has a very good show called the Ozarks Steam-O-Rama, it is in Sept.
They have tractor pulls, parades daily, thrash, bale straw, hundreds of tractors and engines, it is a show worth coming to.
Republic is just west of Springfield a few miles so hotel accomaditions are no problem.

The Granddaddy of them all is the Midwest Old Threshers in Mt Pleasant Iowa. It is always the 5 days ending Labor Day. Mt Pleasant is located in Southeast Iowa.

Mt Pleasant is one of the top shows in the country
but may be farther than 500 miles. Even at that it may be worth a little extra to attend it. Another show that I love to attend is a three day
show held outside Springfield Mo near Republic Mo.
It is the Steam O' Rama presented by Ozarks Steam
Engine Association and Early Days Gas Engine and
Tractor Association. Thre are hundreds of antique tractors, steamengines, threshing and sawmill, parades daily etc. Not as big as Mt Pleasant but very enjoyable show to attend. Held in September,
but not sure of 2005 date. Probably within the 500
miles you want.
