Short Toplink Needed

I have a JD 4630 and a large old 3pt blade..Rhino I think. The frame on the blade is really long. Anyway when the 3pt is all the way up (and it does go all the way up) the blade is only about 3 inches off the ground. Given that the blade has a bit of play in the side to side I can acutally drag a corner going down the road.

I have also put the blade on a Massey 255 and have the same problem.

Does anyone know where I can get a shorter toplink to get that thing up higher?

They can be had, but you'll have to do some looking. TSC did not have any listed when I needed one, told me they didn't make one. Found one at an auto parts store - that also specialized in tractor parts, and they had to order it! Unfortunately, the store is no longer in business, and I don't know where they got it.

I like that idea a lot but since it is only about 24" long right now I don't know how much shorter of a cylinder you can get.

Most farm supply places offer 2-3 different sizes. Like TSC mentioned before.

Go to a farm supply store, TSC etc. , and get a cheap top link cut in 2 and weld back together.

If you need a top link shorter than the standard adjustable link will go as I have in a few special cases here are a couple of things that I have done.
Using a piece of 1/4 or 3/8 by about 2" wide bar stock cut to the length needed and drill holes at each end to make a fixed length top link. Starting with a ratchet type load binder and cutting the hooks off the end the center ratchet part works as a short top link. In one instance I used a short piece of chain to make a short top link. - Note this can be dangerous as it can allow the tractor to back flip as there is no solid top link. I hope this helps you.
