The ram and seals are strong when pulling/under tension. However too much push when the hydraulic ram is "unsupported", can kink. Mounting on the top three point link make it easier to bend the rod or rapidly wear the seal/bushing. A ram used in a loader etc is in a frame that limits "kinking".

Me thinks that if a person was really into heavy duty work, there may be a possibility of damage but...hehe, I've just got a 30 something hp tractor and a single 16" plow. If the cylinder was robust enough, I just don't see what I am doing being enough to hurt it. Now, what can I expect to pay for such a beast?

They make a tilt cyl for lift also. Handy for blade work, so I hear. Do a search on "Top N Tilt.

I had thought of using such a top link for everything until folks said not too. I can't understand why they wouldn't work for tillage.....all I plow is the garden and then use one row cultivators for weeds. I am going to pick up a rear dump scoop and thought a hyd. top link would be the berries for quick 'in seat' adjustments. I'm all ears though and tend to listen to well tendered advice.

I don't know why you can't this link was on a 4430 and it handled a 12 row cultivator no problem and it makes setting easy never leave seat.

built a rear bale fork and put a ram on the top link and use it to gather round bales off the field .I can lift the bale up higher. Carry one on the front as well Very happy with the idea of the ram on the back fork.

I made one for the snowblower and blade. Works great. I would not use it for field work though.

I had made one to use on a bale spear and with a set of forks. Works real good for loading bales on a trailer, gives a little more height on the back then u can level to drop the bale on the trailer. The are handy for that type of things...Jim

Depends on what you want to do with it. For tillage etc, the regular top link is best. Have one-only use it on the sissor bale spear lift; probably not even needed there as the scissor is designed to keep bale quite level even as it raises way up. The hydraulic top link does aid in dumping the bale -into a pickup bed or what have you.
