Yes, Siree! The state of Kansas has a new motto, we'll no longer be known as "The Land of Ahhhhs", nope, now we're going by "Kansas, it's as Big as You Think"! And the price tag on this jewel is only $700,000.

What on earth are these politicians thinkin'? For $700k, I think we coulda done a little better!

Dug from "Kansas, it's as big as you think"

What a ripoff.

At least ya want to smoke a cigarette after hearing or reading those mottos.

I know it seems big when driving across it. "Are we STILL in Kansas?"

All us Kansans know you should only drive across the state at night. Driving during the day can kill ya.

The first time I drove across Kansas I was 18. I had a little Datsun sedan which used to have A/C, but since the ducts were along the underside of the dash and since I wanted to install an 8 track stereo in that location, I removed the A/C. That day in KS was 113 F (according to one time/temp sign I saw) and I did indeed about die!

Try driving across TX on I10. Almost 900 miles.

A common truck driver joke is.
Driving across TX at 55mph is not a job. It is a career.

Well good, cuz on another forum I list my location as "north of Oz" and folks think I am an Aussie?
I guess that Wizard stuff never caught on. But I'm still in love with the Tin Man.

Its funny you guys mention the whole Oz thing. I live about 20 mins from Chittenango, where the writer grew up. It does have yellow brick sidewalks and all sorts of Oz stuff everywhere. They even have an annual 'Ozz-fest' every year. Did you ever see the original where somebody committed suicide and filmed the movie and in one of the scenes you can see the man's body hanging from a tree, swinging a little bit in the shadows. Pretty creepy.
