Just finished a 26'x50' garage. I used 2x6 frame construction set on 16 inch centers. I built it with a gambrel roof, with a 14'x50' room upstairs. Six inch insulation in the lower walls. Four inch insulation in the upper story. Metal roof with foam insulation as a vapor barrier. Concrete garage floor, with no sealer, as I have yet to find a sealer/coating that doesn't peel and make a bigger mess than just using good housekeeping methods to start with. 200 amp electrical service, with forced air hot water electric heat. 300 watt Pioneer stereo (circa 1973) with 300 CD jukebox, reel-to-reel tape deck, eight track tape deck, casette deck, record player, four speakers. Satellite 32 inch RCA tv. Thermal pane windows and insulated 16 foot overhead garage door with opener. It houses two Buicks from the 60's, my '73 Chevy truck, my old Fergie, and assorted lawn equipment. Upstairs, I have my office, old electronic shop, and storage for parts, etc. Costs about $30 a month to heat in south western Missouri. Only thing I would do over is to put a shingle roof on instead of metal. Lots quieter and looks better, in my opinion. Thanks for listening and all the best..... ...P
