Truck Batteries

I need a new battery for one of my trucks. I've always used Interstate Batteries for both my trucks and tractors, and have had good luck with them, but someone told me recently that Walmart's own batteries are made by Interstate, and are exactly the same. I'm not above saving a few bucks, so does anyone know if that's true???

Thanks!!

I just replaced a nine year old 8D Interstate with a new Interstate. With this kind of service, I gave Interstate another chance. ray

Just because a company makes a battery for another company does NOT make them the same battery.
Walmart is famous for specing a cheaper item and trying to get the consumer to think it is the same thing as they get at a dealers store.

I can't help you on the Interstate/Walmart question, but I had a lot of batteries. The best were a set from CaseIH that I installed in the combine and are still good after 8 years. I do start it about once a month all year. I have had miserable luck and very good luck with Interstate batteries. Although they have on occasion not lasted long enough, the dealer is a local supplier and worth supporting. Same varied luck with JD batteries. I owned a set that have been thru hell. A friend borrowed and overcharged them in his combine after he blew his up from the same overcharging. Later they fell out of combine battery holder and tumbled 5 ft to the ground. He returned them with the caps missing, most of the acid gone. After 6 months, I decided to see if they worked or whether their new home would be the scrap yard. After refilling with acid, the things took a charge and are still working 4 years later. Unbelievable! Other Deere batteries have not lasted any longer than the poor Interstates.

I'm sure not a huge JD man, tractors are all Ford blue and equip mostly NH or NI red. Last year I needed a pair of batteries for my 01 Dodge Cummins. Had seen the adds in 'The Furrow' that JD now had batteries and filters for all makes of trucks nad tractors. $75.00 each with a 5 year warranty and genuine JD. I just always try to buy from the dealer or the NAPA store over Sams House of Horrors if I can.

The local WallyWorld Super Center here has batteries branded "EverStart". A close examination shows they are made by Johnson Battery Control Group, Inc. I can't tell you who makes the Interstate batteries.
