I am looking for American made tires to go on my WD. Can you give me the Brands/Models of tires still made in America for my tractor. I need 12.4-13.6 x 28" for the reat and 5.5 x 16 for the fronts. Can you tell me the prices I should expect to pay for them and any good sources for them. I travel between California and Arizona (home) all of the time so that would be my best bet unless there is an online source that just has prices to good to pass up on.

Thanks

Just find a local tire dealer that handles farm tires your sizes are cheap, and if you order tires you have to pay shipping and then an pricey service call for tire man to come install new tires. you save a lot of money by taking tractor to shop for tire work.

I used truck tires once. Wound up taking them off and going back to regular 3-rib tires. If you want to turn in plowed ground, get the ribbed front tractor tires. The ribs provide the proper steering control.

In Iowa and the midwest, most farm stores carry three and four rib tractor front tires, made where I don't know. Places like TSC, Farm and Fleet, Bucheits, Orcheln, Value built (sp), and the like. Most any farm area tire dealer should have a selection on hand or easily ordered.

One other question concerning tires. A friend told me to just run regular truck tires on the front 16's. I really do not have a desire to do that but was wondering if that was possible or not? I would rather go with the 3 or 4 row ribbed tires.

It is possible. I have used them. I did not like them on my narrow front WD as well as the ribbed tires. It is a matter of individual use and preference.

I guess I should mention that I have a Wide Front WD. I dont know if that would have made a difference or not.

I like the truck tires on my 170 wide front. I have had some tell me they like the truck tires on a wide front WD.

Joe you might call GCR truck center there in Phoenix. Ask for Bill Buckly-he is very good to deal with and can probably answer most of your questions. They handle all types of tires-domestic and ag. I have tried ordering tires but the freight eats you alive. Number is 602-272-9308. Watch the area code, I don't think it has changed since I got his business card. Jack
