Has anyone bought one of these units? They are so inexpensive and for the sandy soil I have would probably hold up. Just wanting your opinions as used ones are hard to find in AZ anyway.

Joe

PS> I may just make my own if I have to but at their prices (IF they are US made, wont buy a foriegn one) my time might be worth more.

Sky,

The deal with box blades is that weight is needed for them to do a good (or even decent) job. You might be able to buy one cheap and then weld on 7-800 pounds of steel and make it work, but at that weight, it will probably fail. The 3 point setup is pretty cheezy on them. It"s up to you, but you do get what you pay for.

Rule of thumb -> 20-30 pounds of implement weight per tractor Hp for ground engaging implements.

My box blade is a Gannon Landscaper LB120 (IIRC) that is 66" wide, has retractable scarifiers and weighs about 900#. I don"t worry about hitting a root or a rock...

Let us know what you do and how it works out!

Cheers,
jb

Be sure to add the transportation cost for any eBay purchase. Local prices may then look better for implements.
