I just got a new 170 on Dec 30. I did this on the assumption that the accelerated depreciation will cover the first years cash flow, and that I can generate close to enough income to cover the costs. I did not do a lot of research. NH was the first and only dealer I talked to. Was in a hurry to get it done before 12/31. Dealer is big and active with skidsteers and lots of available rental attachments. Also has a parts guy that knows old Ford tractors so I gave them bonus points for that. Biggest trade off I'm aware of is that NH has foot controls for the bucket instead of twisty hand grips. Some people love that and some people hate it. It's supposed to make it a little faster if you know what you're doing. I got mine with the full cab (heated) and a set of pallet forks and it was around 21k. I know a lady that runs a tree farm. She has a few year old John Deere which is the same thing and she's been happy with it. I do like the way it opens up very nicely for maintenance. I have no reason to believe that overall quality isn't as good or better than another brand. The only downside I've had is that I can't advertise as "Bobcat" services and nobody knows what the heck a skid steer is! If your anywhere near Chicago come take a look.
