Hi Guys,

Started tryin' to bring this old hay-head back from the dead today.

Me thinks if I can straighten all the forks and do a little hot wrench fabrication, I might be able to save it in somewhat "fair" condition.

Then maybe, just have to buy one hydraulic female connector, one pillow block and that one missing tooth, which will probably cost me a small fortune, if things run true to form at the parts house. :>(

Hey Allan,

How are those teeth attached? I have lost three, found two but the third is still missing. Some of the remaining teeth have been welded, others just bolted. What would you recommend?

Hi Dug,

See those two bolts at the back of each tooth? Take those out and the thing should just pull out towards the front if it is anything like an F-10 manure head.

I think the teeth on both the F-11 and F-10 are the same, but the F-10 uses a U-bolt instead of these machine thru-bolts.

Have you priced the things yet? I'm almost scared to ask.

When I get the hydraulics ready, I'm gonna straddle a tree with the forks and give 'em a tug with a tractor. These steel forks should straighten, I think. Heck, they bent. :>)

Hay Allan thats a good lookin head. Those grapple forks won't bend back worth a dang. Been there done that several times. Should be able to get them some what close to staight but they will bend again.New ones are about $125 bucks last I checked. The bucket teeth are fairly cheap about $10 bucks each.

Todd,

I guess you were right about that tooth costing $10. But, for some darned reason, they made me add another $42.62 to that amount before they'd push it across the counter to my side. :>)

Pillow block cap only came to $12-something, so guess I can live with it. Grease zerk, was extra, of course. :>(

Todd, you're right about those teeth not wanting to straighten out. I am going to work on mine tomorrow (if it doesn't rain, again!) Any suggestions on what works best to straighten them? I usually just position the teeth against a tree and cut the wheels whatever direction is necessary.

Dug the best way is to take them off. A really big vise and a even bigger hammer. If you have a press that even works better. The bad thing is they will bend again.

REALLY!

I would have thought that those old teeth would cost me an arm and a leg.

Just went and measured the darn things; you're right, it has the new style thick ones. Should have remembered those old thin ones were painted red.

Thanks! I'm off to see your buddy in the morning.

I've got some FH round teeth that I won't need. Tried to move a snowbank and broke a couple of teeth in the process...hard but brittle! Looking for a snow scoop for an F10.
