Just purchased a JD 40S need to know how many were made and an approx value. Runs good all there. Would also like a picture of the 3pt as my lower arms do not match. I have been told this is the same tractor as the 320 except for the engine bore and cosmetics? Also need the front tire size as it has car tires on it. Thanks Bobby Also I apologize if this message appears three times as I am having trouble with editing.

40,320 & 330 all use the same block. Same bottom end parts too except for a few very early 40's with M components. You are going to need the parts, service and operator's manuals from 1-800-522-7448. If you can find any of J.R. Hobb's books on the 1st numbered and 20 series, it's an education. Either from Green Magazine or E-bay etc. "Litle Giants" covers the who line from the M to 40, 320,420,330,430,435 and 440.

320 and 330 used different blocks,the 320 block is a M64T,the 330 used a T10966T.

Tractor value, like other machine/vehicle values are what the market will pay. it varies even state to state. There were over 50,000 JD 40 series made. Of those, about 11,000 JD 40S made and came with 5.00x15 or 6.00x16 tires on pressed steel wheels or a 7.50x10 single front. There were approx. 3,000 Model 320 series made.
