MSNBC is reporting an explosion and fire at one of the world's largest oil refineries at Texas City, Texas. Sure hope no lives were lost nor anyone seriously injured, but you have to expect they'll be raising prices at the pumps all over the country by tonight because of reduced refining capacity.

B&D today on TV a BP spokesman said that saturday they would restart up the rest of refinery as only 1 pod was hurt by blast,but I bet they still use this as an excuse to stick it up our a$$es again .and thesad part is that this refinery really does not produce enough gas to make a dent in the supply chain.

What time today did this happen????? ????

Reason I ask is the wholesale price for gas is about the same for tomorrow as today. Diesel is down a very slight bit for tomorrow.

That does not mean it will not affect Fridays price if it happened late today.

They just reported 14 dead about 100 injuried and homes destroyed this unit will be down awhile .

I always figured if they shot all the news people our fuel would stay at a low stable price.
It"s pretty bad all the mileage the politicians are trying to get out of the FL woman.
Her doctors say that she is at such a diminished brain capacity that she is not suffering.
Her husband has the say.

i think that the oil companies like to have excuses to raise the price of oil. i am pretty shure that the price of oil will go up a little more now because of this.

i am sorry to hear about the people that were injured or killed in the fire.

A year or two ago, I saw part of a refinery go up in IL. that was one of the handful that "reformulate" gasoline for densely populated metropolitan areas. I was in the cab of my truck listening to the national news describing how it would cause the prices at the pump go up due to a decreased capacity as I was watching fire departments arriving at the refinery to put the fire out. That might've been a worlds record. Oddly enough, another refinery or two went up somewhere else within a week or two - coincidense though, I'm sure.

the problem is though that refinery only supports 3% of the U.S.A.'s fuel so it shouldn't matter but it will!!!!!

I can't imagine that the oil companies would blow up their own (with employees at danger) to raise prices. I just can't allow that to cross my mind. However I am appauled that our legal system condones making a woman starve to death and I would go to jail for doing the same to my dog or even caged rats. It breaks my heart but mostly my will.
