My boyfriend absolutely loves antique tractors! His birthday is coming up and I would love to send him to an antique tractor show. If you could attend any show in the country, which would you pick??? I appreciate your input!!

I have heard good about the Rollag show, but come on, play nice, don't really think it would put Mt Pleasant to shame. Check out the Old Threshers website also.

Lisasooo, I don't think there is such a thing as a bad show anywhere. I bet if you and him go to any it would be alot of fun, just make sure you go with him!! My favorite is the ROCK RIVER THRESEREE over Labor day. The real big shows are nice, but if he doesn't like big crowds don't go.
Have fun where ever you go

There are a lot of good shows and everyone will differ about which is the best. If you want to take him to something that's just a bit over the top, take him to the Mid-West Old Thresher's Reunion in Mt. Pleasant, IA. This is not your local show type of experience. I was there a number of years ago. The year I was there, there was over 6,000 camping units and they were running 5 old street cars bringing people from the campground up to the show grounds. You can imagine how large a camp ground that is and the tracks ran in a circle through it. They also feature big name country entertainment. Everyone should go there at least once. the street cars came from 5 major cities in North America and they told you the story of the builder of the car and which city it had come from. We enjoyed it.

Thats a vague question, while some might think one show is better, someone may say another is better.I for one think the smaller local shows are better, but someoneelse might think the bigger the better. Before you go sending him anywhere find a show that close to you that way you AND him can go!I for one think Denton is a good show, but I ended up in the hospital from the heat!Man its hot in July over there.I have heard good things about somewhere in Indiana, and of course The RPRU is in a couple of months.

Lisasooo, Watch the directory on the left for 2005 show dates. My favorite show is the Tri-State Show in Portland,Indiana. Nice shade ,good food, good parking,Antique tractors, field demo,(plowing antique tractors) Saw mill, Hundreds of hit&miss gas engines,20-30 acres of swap meet parts for old tractors etc.All the streets in town turn out for one huge flea market.2005 show is Aug24-27or28.The Midwest threshing show in Mount Pleasant Iowa, Is also nice. Have Fun!!! Earl In Illinois

Come on now, guys. If a boy likes ponies, it"s just teasin" him to take him to look at ponies at the fair.

Tell him you want to help him restore the color and model of his liking. You"ll no where he is, and he"ll be spending his time (and money) on something worthwhile.

What"s the rule: 1 tractor for every 2-3 acres?

Great advice but I wouldn't have any idea on what to do to help! I just want to see the smile on his that he gets when he sees them on TV or rides one of his. As for the rule...he now has 5 on our 1 acre..and his thinking of getting a few more!

My opinion, The Midwest Old Thresher Reunion in Mt Pleasant Iowa is the best I personally have ever been to. It is big, has a lot of variety and lots to do. Take a good day or two to see it all. It is over Labor Day weekend every year. I am sure everyone has their favorite local show.

I drive 500 miles to see that show and try and make it every year. Some say it's abit pricey, but can you imagine the insurance bill alone and you can just live there a couple days. Everythings there. No, I am not involved with it. Go to their website www.oldthreshers.com I just got a flyer from them in the mail today. I'm sure there are others, but sure a nice time. And don't send your boyfriend, something for everyone. Check out the website.
