I get a lot of phone calls about old tractors off and on, people wanting to sell me what they have. I find that most of them have no idea what type/model the tractor is. Happened to me again today, guy told me he had an Allis D-17 when I got there to look at it, it was a B which is ok with me since I buy as many as I can to keep them from being cit up for scrap. Have any of you ever run in to this??

I've noticed as many mistaken sellers as buyers. Cluelessness and self ritious obnoxiousness runs thickly on both sides.

Yea and the ones that get me will not listen, especially the ones that have been working with these old tractors for many years.Got a buddy that has a 41 M,all the casting codes point to 41,but because the tag says its a 52 Super M,its a 52 Super M.

He wasn't asking very much for it, had a broken, or he said spindle, but what it was is a missing front wheel and tire. Engine also stuck but thats no big deal for me. So I did get it for a good price

old: Right now there is a Farmall A on YT auction, being advertized as a Super A. Whether he knows the difference I have no idea. One used to be able to set these guys straight by direct e mail.

Speaking of direct e mail, I don't see the box to check for exposing one's e mail address. You can't directly e mail photo adds or classifieds anymore. I guess Kim is determined to tear down what she has built over the years. From my point once you enter a public forum whether it be for advertizing or discussion, you best be prepared to take the heat or get out of the kitchen. I guess the wimps are taking over.

I was just thinking about the same thing today but in a different context. Ever watch the news when they are showing a piece of equipment? It doesn't matter wether they show a rubber tired loader, a grader, or whatever, to the news people it's always a "Bulldozer".....let them look at some of the older machines and they'd be more lost than they already are.

I have noticed that also saw a 580 case backhoe called a dozer the other day and almost sent the tv station and e-mail about it but didn't. Just figure if they can't get those things right how much else iisn't the truth

That kinda thing has always bugged me bad...

God says he will judge us the way we judge other people but if you cant even read the side of your tractor(and actually can read) I think I can safely judge you as someone that aint smart enough to be part of the human race.

I have trouble on here.. and I know some of you have trouble with my babble LOL

In my case today the guy didn't have a clue as to what it was other then an Allis and that was only because you could see the name allis on it in one place.
