I have some big rocks. you could say they are boulders.I was trying to find what they are worth.any one know where I could find such information. I have been around to the local landscape supply places but they have no idea. the best I could get from them was "the price varies depending on size" my rocks range from 2" to 5"squared (but they are strange shapes like rocks should be)

My first thought, If you can sell rocks, you could sell about anything. Don't have any oil down there do you? I guess rocks are like oil, they not making any more of them. Good luck.

several years ago a landscape guy seen my stone fence along the woods, wanted to know if he could have some. He figured they were free. I told him if he wanted free ones to come in the spring, he could get all he wanted off the field. Once they get to a fence they cost money. He never came back and the rock haven't rotted away yet.

People buying rocks? dang! what will they thank of next? Wonder what the Texas canyon out in Arizona is worth? All my rocks go from pea to softball size, and even the pea size are older than me, I don't think I'll be around long enough to ever make any money off mine, if what their buying now is five hundred pounders or better. Are tumbleweeds worth anything?

YOu could neuter them and sell them as pets..... ...dang, someone already tried that. You"re too late for that one. Well..... oh wait, I got it, set a price double of what an ordinary "&@$#%ing rock" would sell for, and market it as a "love stone".

Several places here sell all kind of rocks. It is my understanding that most of the price on these decorative rocks is transportation..... ...

Joe, you might check a nearby rock quarry. Several around here have them at the side of the road and will be glad to quote you a price. Find a couple similar in size to yours and inquire.

I was in Japan last year - visited a place that sold huge boulders - maybe 4-5' across, 2' high, but they had been cut and polished, included 6 smaller "seats" each cut and polished, about 18" tall. All for sale for about $1200-2000 for the set. (Multiple sets available.) The best bargain I saw over there - just couldn't figure how to get them into my carry-on luggage to bring home.

My wife's uncle bought a Granite one in Minnesota in 1992 for $75. This one is about 4 foot high, 4' across at the botom, and 2 foot thick (give or take the sizes). Figured out it weighs right at 1 ton (2067#, actually). He loaded into a 1964 Chevy 3/4 ton pickup and hauled it to Independence, Missouri (KC). He had it on an old car hood in the truck so it would slide out with a come-along. We hauled the rock to Polk, Nebraska in 1997 (he died in 94) in a trailer, and from there to our farm in Tecumseh, Nebraska in a trailer. Stupid rock has more miles on it than most vehicles. Been sitting out here for two years - wife still hasn't decided where she wants it.

No problem.

Only issue will be getting a big enough bathroom scale to weigh the boulders on! ;-)

2" to 5" squared doesn't sound like much of a boulder to me? Do you mean 2' to 5'?

I've seen them priced at $100 to $150 per ton for nice sandstone rocks locally. A big rock may weigh a couple tons so it would be worth $200 - $300 maybe a bit more for a nice shaped one. Problem is moving them around, etc.

I would try to get a landscape type place to buy from you wholesale.

FWIW, Nathan

Did you really mean inches? Or feet? Around here, there are a lot of lanscaping places that sell rocks from several inches to several feet. Round river rocks. Flat walkway type rocks. Large angular rocks. All colors. You can buy them individually or by the pallet. Never priced them, so don"t know what they sell for.
